Subject: fvwm2: should not automatically try to convert .fvwmrc files to v2
To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 3.1.5
Package: fvwm2
Version: 2.0.46-BETA-3
This report applies to fvwm2-plus as well. In both cases, the install
process should not try to automatically convert users' .fvwmrc files,
at least without asking if it should try. On a system with a large
userbase, when I install this package it tries to scan every single
user home directory -- which is large and distributed across multiple
remote filesystems. This is bad. Besides, it is the policy of
some sites not to touch user home directory contents in any way.
Thanks for considering making this postinstall "feature" an option
instead of automatic.
