Bug#19265: paridoc: no-copyright-file LI#119
Package: paridoc
Version: 1.39.03-7
Severity: important
This bug report has been created automatically by the Lintian Debian
package checker. (Please refer to
http://schwarz.developer.debian.org/lintian/ for details.)
Below, there are two lists of problems that have been detected in this
package (and probably in other binary packages that come from the same
source package). The first list contains problems which are considered
`release-critical' (i.e., these bugs have to be fixed before the code
freeze--if not, the package will be moved into project/orphaned),
while the second list contains `normal' bugs (of course, these
problems should be fixed too, but we won't remove the package if this
isn't done before the freeze).
If you have any questions, or think that Lintian has a bug, or that
your package requires a policy exceptions, feel free to contact
lintian-maint@debian.org about this.
Thanks,
Chris, Richard, and Lintian :)
List of `release-critical' bugs
===============================
E: paridoc: no-copyright-file
Each binary package has to include a plain file /usr/doc/<pkg>/copyright
See Policy Manual, section 5.6 for details.
List of `normal' bugs
=====================
E: pari: manpage-not-compressed usr/man/man1/gp.1
Manual pages have to be installed compressed (using `gzip -9').
See Policy Manual, section 5.1 for details.
W: pari: ancient-standards-version 2.1.2.2
The source package refers to a `Standards-Version' older than one year.
Please update your package to latest policy and set this control field
appropriately.
If the package is already compliant with the current standards, you
don't have to reupload the package just to adjust the Standards-Version
control field. However, please remember to update this field next time
you upload the package.
You might want to check out the Policy checklist for upgrading your
packages to see, which changes you have to do on your packages.
W: pari: possible-name-space-pollution usr/bin/gp
The package installs a binary which uses a very short file name (one or
two characters). This is not forbidden by policy, but short names should
be reserved for the user. Unless this short name has been used for a
while already (like the famous `ls', `rm', `cp' commands), you should
consider giving these binaries a longer name.
If you think that the short name is ok, please send a note to
schwarz@monet.m.isar.de so that this error gets included in the
overrides file of Lintian. (With that, Lintian will ignore this bug in
the future.)
