Bug#14744: mc: mc gives black screen in a color-xterm
Package: mc
Version: 4.1.9-1
When starting mc with the TERM variable set to xterm-color, it paints the
window black and doesn't appear to be responding to keypresses (eg. F10.)
I start mc in a xterm with the following invocation:
TERM=xterm-color mc
The window then becomes solid black and doesn't respond to mouseclicks or
keypresses.
You have to resize the xterm to have it repaint the screen and then it's okay.
Starting mc in a xterm with the command-line:
TERM=vt100 mc
also gives strange side-effects, but when exiting mc; the terminal fills with
codes and thereafter hangs and is irresponsive.
A further wishlist item: if the xterm-color behaviour can be fixed, I'd
like to see the "TERM=xterm-color mc" invocation become the default in the
x-windows menu entry. It currentl starts a black and white mc, which looks
far less nice.
