Package: apt-xapian-index Version: 0.44 Severity: wishlist Hi, Recently a question came up on debian-user regarding the 'ip' package. Of course we guesses the OP was asking for the package providing the 'ip' command (iproute), but it is not easy to find this out with existing tools: $ apt-file search bin/ip | wc -l 140 $ apt-cache search ip | wc -l 10060 Then I remembered apt-xapian-index so I cheated, looked up all debtags and tried this $ axi-cache --all search ip admin::configuring role::program scope::utility interface::commandline | wc -l 259 but what's even worse $axi-cache --all search ip admin::configuring role::program scope::utility interface::commandline | grep iproute $ Maybe indexing the packages' contents would help? Kind regards, Andrei -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ro_RO.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ro_RO.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages apt-xapian-index depends on: ii python 2.7.2-9 ii python-apt 0.8.0 ii python-debian 0.1.21 ii python-support 1.0.14 ii python-xapian 1.2.7-1 apt-xapian-index recommends no packages.
