Package: cdebconf-gtk-udeb Version: 0.110 Severity: important Tags: d-i On my laptop the graphical installer freezes the machine, probably during initialization of directfb. When it freezes, it shows a completely grey screen with only a mouse cursor. This only happens since the switch to 2.6.18 kernels. I've finally been able to trace the problem to a config change in the kernel: -CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV=m +CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV=y A 2.6.18 kernel compiled without that option works fine. I would guess the bug is in directfb as I'd say that having MOUSEDEV compiled in is completely valid. However, it is strange that the same issue has not yet been reported for other systems. I guess it could also be a bug in some hardware specific code for my hardware. Some help from directfb developers how to further trace this issue would be very welcome. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-3-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)
