Sorry but that is not optional, just like, say, glibc is also not optional - that's what Debian uses, it's not a mix-and-match situation I'm afraid. If you do not approve of the choices that Debian makes, there are many other distributions to chose from, I'm sure there will be at least one that matches your specific requirements and preferences.
