Package: libnss-ldap
Version: 251-7.5
Severity: normal

Setting up a new system, I copied its config over from an old system, before having
installed the necessary packages.

So nsswitch.conf had entries 'ldap files' for passwd etc.
This was completely harmless in the absence of libnss-ldap (apart from
not being able to look up those users)

With that config, apt-get install libnss-ldap falls over:

Selecting previously deselected package libnss-ldap.
(Reading database ... 118867 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking libnss-ldap (from .../libnss-ldap_251-7.5_i386.deb) ...
Setting up libnss-ldap (251-7.5) ...
perl: ldap-nss.c:1374: do_init: Assertion `cfg->ldc_uris[__session.ls_current_uri] != ((void *)0)' failed.
dpkg: error processing libnss-ldap (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Aborted)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libnss-ldap
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Once its like this, other things are broken too. (reportbug!)
Luckily this gave me the clue as to what had happened.
