Package: mozplugger Version: 1.1.2-3 Severity: wishlist Tags: upstream Since installing mozplugger, I have found that clicking on a link to a PostScript file will embed an instance of gv in my Galeon window. While this behavior is cute, I would rather get a standalone gv window unless the file is actually supposed to be inside a web page (due to EMBED, IMAGE, or the like); likewise for other types. (In the case of PostScript, I can simply edit my mozpluggerrc since embedded PS is rare if not totally unheard of; the issue is more relevant for image/* or video/*, which can legitimately appear both ways.) Suggested ways to address this: * Drop swallow() from the config file for types nobody embeds in practice (basically just a workaround). * Per the subject, somehow detect whether the request is actually for an image or embedded object, and swallow only in that case. (I don't know how feasible this is.) * As above, but fall back on the browser's existing mechanisms for specifying external programs (mailcaps, GNOME settings, etc.) in the non-embedded case, rather than monolithically duplicating their functionality. ("monolithically" because there appears, judging from the man page, to be no way to override only part of a system mozillarc.) * Provide some way to let the user request unswallowing after the fact. This is "wishlist" because it's easy enough to work around some manifestations by adjusting the config file and I have no idea how feasible a real fix would be; nevertheless, I would appreciate one.
