Package: polipo
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

polipo claims to support "squid-style external redirectors", but
this doesn't work. a test and a look at the sources tells the
story: polipo's requests to the redirector do not fully conform
to squid's format.

the squid docs at http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/url_rewrite_program/
tells us that

"For each requested URL, the rewriter will receive on line with the format
URL <SP> client_ip "/" fqdn <SP> user <SP> method [<SP> kvpairs]<NL>"

polipo sends only the url, no client_ip/fqdn, user or http method - all
of which are mandatory.

this problem is present in all versions of polipo.

regards
az
