Package: kmldonkey
Version: 0.10.1-3
Severity: important

If I start kmldonkey in two different environments, one English and one
Simplified Chinese (the latter is a KDE session with Simplified Chinese
selected as the language) the English instance of kmldonkey connects to
mldonkey-server just fine. /var/lib/mldonkey/mlnet.log:

2007/03/22 21:38:28 [dIface] GUI protocol 32
2007/03/22 21:38:28 [dIface] GUI connection from user admin
2007/03/22 21:38:33 [dIface] GUI connection from 127.0.0.1

The Chinese instance indicates a password error as follows:

2007/03/22 21:38:23 [dIface] GUI connection from user ÿþa
2007/03/22 21:38:23 [dIface] GUI connection BAD PASSWORD for user ÿþa
2007/03/22 21:38:25 [dIface] GUI connection from 127.0.0.1

Note that "admin" is the user name specified in both instances of
kmldonkey preferences, but the user name appears to be mangled before it
gets to mldonkey-server in the case of the Simplified Chinese instance
of kmldonkey.
