Aside from those two bugs there is also https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=895292 which needs to be addressed before systemd-shim is functional again. Unfortunately we don't really have anyone still caring for the sysvinit related bits in Debian. So for, it has been mostly the systemd team which kept sysvinit on life support, but we no longer have the time for that. -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
