Thank you for the email!  If you would indeed forward it on (and CC
me), that would be splendid.

Firefox deals with many such situations nicely nowadays.  When you
click the Back button, it displays a dialog box:

% This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you
have entered may not be saved.
%
%      [ Leave Page ]    [ Stay on Page ]

Perhaps Lynx could offer a similar prompt.

"Data you have entered may be lost. L)eave page, or S)tay on page?"
