Bug#751577: docvert-libreoffice: outdated; new upstream release available
Package: docvert-libreoffice
Version: 4.0+dfsg-1
Severity: wishtlist
Hi,
docvert is outdated in Debian. Debian contains a 4.0+dfsg-1
while looking on http://static.holloway.co.nz/docvert/news.html
the have been releases:
Docvert 6 2nd April 2014
Ported Docvert to Python 3!
Docvert 5.2 2nd February 2014
Bugfixes.
Docvert 5.1 16th August 2011
Improved list handling.
Improved UI.
Feature parity with Docvert 4.0 (for conversions)
Docvert 5.0 28th March 2011
Ported Docvert to Python
Security improvements
Speed improvements
Docvert 4.0 Beta 1 November 8th 2010
Here's the download page
Improved support for EMF/WMF (requires PyODConverter with OOo Server)
Replacing crappy homebrewed XML parser with SimpleXML. Should work identically, if you need the old behaviour then there's deprecated_xmlStringToArray()
Minor bugfixes to PyODConverter.
PLEASE NOTE: PyODConverter with OOo Server is strongly recommended, all other converters are now deprecated and may be removed in the future. Save yourself the hassle and move now.
Note that there never was a 4.0 (but only a 4.0 beta1, so the Version
string in Debian is wrong).
Anyways, from what I see there
the
"Security improvements" and
"Ported Docvert to Python 3"
fall into my mind. The latter one is the fix for #707340 which gets us
nearer to the removal of the legacy python-uno...
Regards,
Rene
