Subject: libsvga1: hardware crash on particular ZGV operation
Package: libsvga1
Version: 1:1.4.3-17
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

This is nasty, really. When I ask ZGV for filename information (by
hitting the colon) my entire machine locks. The Magic Sysrq keys don't
work. But only for this particular file (so far), and only when I've
reached that file through a ZGV directory listing.

How to reproduce:
- Have ZGV handy
- Download http://library.em.ca/art/Barrias%2c_Louis-Ernest/Nature_Revealed_Before_Science.jpeg
- Run ZGV in the directory where the file is saved
- View Nature_Revealed_Before_Science.jpeg (warning, she's naked and
  really cute)
- Press colon
This results in a complete crash for me. I've crashed my machine like
this four times now.

I have an ATI Radeon 7000. Svgalib is told to use the video card as a
VESA card.

The above instructions do not cause any crashes on my 486 laptop which
has an C&T video card, also under the VESA driver. There is also no
crash on a Pentium classic machine with an S3 Tria PCI video card, also
under the VESA driver.

| tomg@nova:~$ cat /etc/vga/libvga.config
| mouse MouseSystems
| mdev /dev/gpmdata
| HorizSync 28 70
| VertRefresh 40 120
| chipset VESA
| #chipset FBDev
| tomg@nova:~$

I don't know what to recommend...
