Package: qt3-designer
Version: 3:3.2.1-4
Severity: wishlist

Images saved in a .ui file (e.g. for the iconset of a button) are saved as
XPM.GZ data. This means if you use a png with nice fading or translucency,
it appears fine for the current session of designer, but when you come to
save it, quit, and load it again, (or indeed run it through uic and use it),
although the fully transparent areas are transparent, the translucent areas
have been saved as fully opaque, rendered on a black background, thus adding
annoying black outlines to the icons.

The .ui files are normally only read by designer and uic, what's to stop it
using PNG (which has proper translucency support) instead? Qt supports PNG,
so do many other libraries and applications.

(The xlibmesa packages below, like all my xfree86 packages, are a custom
build, to get a relatively new S3 Savage driver for 3D acceleration. I've
seen the black outlines on other systems, so I don't think that's relevant.)
