  I am trying generate a hint file for a truetype font, using
defoma-hints, but aparently, a error in perl script is hinders its
correct functioning.
  As I do not know perl, I do not know what to make.

Example of the error occurring:

defoma-hints -c truetype /usr/share/fonts/truetype/tahoma.ttf

after the command, the following error message is shown indefinitely:
