Package: defoma
Version: 0.11.5
Severity: important

Defoma silently failed to register fonts for ghostscript because
/var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts did not exist.

The main problem was, that the failure was silent. Not a single word was
printed anywhere until I did:

defoma-font unregister-all ...gs.hints
defoma-font -v register-all ...gs.hints

Then defoma replied with lot of messages like this:
/usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/z003034l.pfb: failed to register for package gs, status(3).

errno 3 => No such process

It does not seem to mean errno and does not seem to be helpful at all.
And even this is only printed with the -v option.

The magic I needed to cast to solve the problem (including strace to see
what directory the fonts should have been in) can't be expected of
normal user.

Please, make defoma create directories it needs if they don't exist or
at least make it complain loudly on such an error, preferably with
helpful message and in a way that crashes post-install script of package
registering fonts, so user knows that something went wrong.
