Package: gs-common Version: 0.3.3 Severity: normal I made my ttf-larabie-* font packages defoma-compatible. gs-common is _very_ slow on them... Installing abiword-common, libpango1.0-common, x-ttcidfont-conf just take about 15-40 seconds each. installation of gs-common has been taking several minutes now. it takes about one hour i think, making this package mostly unuseable in combination with my font packages (on my 933 MHz!!). output from "apt-get install gs-common" [...] Unpacking Ersatz-gs-common ... Setting up gs-common (0.3.3) ... Updating font configuration of gs... Cleaning up category psprint.. Cleaning up category cmap.. Cleaning up category cid.. Cleaning up category truetype.. Cleaning up category gsfontderivative.. Cleaning up category type3.. Cleaning up category type1.. Updating category type1.. Updating category type3.. Updating category gsfontderivative.. Updating category truetype.. [... sitting here for several minutes now, at 100% CPU ...] there definitely is progess: $ ls /var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts | wc -l 172 a few seconds later: 181 so the script is chewing through the ttf fonts slowly. But what is it doing??? All i can see there are symlinks being created... I've not yet uploaded my new ttf-larabie-packages yet, in order i don't get many bugs reported against my packages... but you can get them from http://people.debian.org/~erich/ttf-larabie/ -- System Information Debian Release: 3.0 Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux marvin.xmldesign.de 2.4.19-pre6acpi0404 #1 Mon Apr 8 00:26:54 CEST 2002 i686 Locale: LANG=de_DE@euro, LC_CTYPE=de_DE@euro Versions of packages gs-common depends on: ii debconf 1.0.32 Debian configuration management sy ii debianutils 1.16 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii defoma 0.11.0 Debian Font Manager -- automatic f ii gs 6.53-3 The Ghostscript Postscript interpr ii gsfonts 6.0-2 Fonts for the ghostscript interpre
