Package: fonter Version: 1.7-8 When trying to save a font file, fonter prepends '/usr/share/fonter/' to the filename entered. So, if I try and save a font, and enter the filename 'test', instead of saving the font as 'test.fnt' in the current directory, fonter tries to create '/usr/share/fonter/test.fnt', which fails with the error 'Error - cannot create filename', since only root can write to that directory. To save the font in my home directory, I have to enter a filename beginning with '../../../home/pigeon/'. This is 21 characters. Since fonter also limits the filename to 22 characters, I am limited to single-character filenames. I can use 9-character filenames if I save to /tmp. Of course I can rename the file afterwards, but it is still a pain. I suggest that the prepending of '/usr/share/fonter' should be removed, and the 22-character limit also removed. I am using: Debian 3.0r0 libc6 2.2.5-11.2 locally built with -march=i686 Kernel 2.4.21-pre5-ac3 -- Pigeon Be kind to pigeons Get my GPG key here: http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x21C61F7FAttachment: pgpOGgIXxf98z.pgp

Version: 1.7-9+rm You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/205832 in Debian BTS against the package fonter. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will remain open for older distributions. For more information about this package's removal, read http://bugs.debian.org/300591. That bug might give the reasons why this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements. Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question. Thank you for your contribution to Debian. -- Marco Rodrigues
