Oh joy! Madman on Debian. This looks very promising. However, the first
thing I tried didn't work. :) I tried editing tags with the interface.
That is, click on the artist line, edit, enter, and then nothing. The
tag wasn't modified, and the line was returned to blank.
I tell myself: this is impossible, no such blatant bug would be left
like this, so I tested this further.
What happens is that I can't edit files which don't already have *some*
id3 tag attached. I am able to modify existing tags, and to add new tags
to files, as long as those files already contain some tag (e.g. artist).
