Package: giftd
Version: 0.11.8.1-2+b2
Severity: normal

While running gift-setup, there is question:

    #############################################################################

Colon separated list of protocol plugins to load by default. If dynamic
library support is enabled, the plugin specified will be stat'd to check if
it is a loadable path. If that fails, the fallback method is to attempt to
construct the fully qualified path based on the configured environment.

    NOTES:
Without dynamic library support, this plugin must have been compiled into
your giFT binary. With, this plugin must exist in the installed
plugin directory. giFT -V will output this path to you, if you are not
     sure.

Protocol names are case sensitive, so use OpenFT, not Openft.

For example, to use the OpenFT and Gnutella protocols use:

     OpenFT:Gnutella

    Default: none

The help suggests running program that not exist:

    $ giFT -V
    bash: giFT: command not found

The help also doesn't say, that it is not possible to run
rhat command -- even if it existed -- when running the setup
for the first time. From /usr/share/doc/giftd/QUICKSTART.gz

    SETUP
    =====

    ...
Please make sure to select the plugins you wish to load in the configuration
unless you plan to override on the command line using the --protocol (or -p)
switch. For a list of available plugins you can use the --version (or -V)
>> switch, although this cannot be used until after a basic functioning
>> giftd.conf is in place (whacky internal design, sorry). Be sure to run
gift-setup again after you install each additional plugin so that you can be
    certain it is properly configured!

SUGGESTION

1. Please patch the gift-setup to announce correct command

2. Please patch the help (and take it to upstream) to say, that
if this is the first time configuration, you can't run that command.
Suggest to type "OpenFT" and change it later in ~/.giFT/giftd.conf

You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/544006 in Debian BTS
against the package gift. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/595572. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
