Package: herrie
Version: 2.2-2
Severity: normal
I noticed this while doing a QA upload, but uploaded it anyway, since there's
a workaround and the QA upload does fix an RC bug.
On my laptop, I have this in ~/.asoundrc:
pcm.pulse {
type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
type pulse
}
pcm.!default {
type pulse
}
pcm.default {
type pulse
}
herrie fails to play a perfectly normal Ogg Vorbis file (2 channels, 44.1 kHz)
with "Sample rate or amount of channels not supported". When I delete the
third and fourth stanzas from .asoundrc it works fine.
I suspect that my hardware only supports 48 kHz output, and ALSA hardware
output performs some sort of automatic conversion, while the pulse backend
does not. This is on a Lenovo X200s laptop with a
"Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)".
