Bug#570253: Server doesn't sync time when it is started

Package: openntpd
Version: openntpd_3.9p1-7
Severity: normal

Hallo,
  I've tried to install openntpd package to an embedded system without CMOS battery, i.e. this board lost date/time when it is switched off. I've found a bug making this package hard usable without reading man page of openntpd server and its init script. Daemon did not set time when it is started. The reason is, that daemon looks for default config file at /etc/ntpd.conf, but package contains config file /etc/openntpd/ntpd.conf. It is good idea let to server knows it.

Solution is very simple:

File /etc/defaults/openntpd contains only comment lines, with an example. Please add following line to it and all will be fine.

DAEMON_OPTS="-f /etc/openntpd/ntpd.conf -s"

Option -s can be subject to discussion, but -f is solution for all Debian-like distribution.

Thank you,

  Pavel
