The bad part is, as you says, the init script. It the pid file is not created at start. The defaut in amavis-stats.conf is not good, I changed it to : $pid_file = "/var/run/amavis-stats.pid"; # (default is "$MYHOME/amavis-stats.pid") But, amavis-stats does not create it either... Amavis-stats perl script must be debugged... I also saw that by defaut, amavis-stats is running with www-data user. I had to change the ownership of /var/lib/amavis-stats*. And also, www-data cannot read /var/log/mail.log...
