Hi,

It would be great if netcdf contained support for Fortran. I think all this takes is a 
copy of the include file (netcdf.inc [*]) and some compile switches.

My notes for doing this by hand:
# remove debian packages netcdfg-dev netcdf-bin libhdf4g-dev
# get netcdf.inc from unidata FTP site

CFLAGS=-O
FC=/usr/bin/g77

I also had 'cfortran.h' v4.1 kicking around, not sure of its role.
(There is a debian package 'cfortran' which has v4.4)
