Package: libtool1.4
Version: 1.4.3-14
Severity: grave

Here is what I get when attempting to link a C++ lib:

| $ /usr/bin/libtool --mode=link g++   -o libgccpp.la -rpath /usr/lib gc_cpp.lo
| rm -fr .libs/libgccpp.la .libs/libgccpp.* .libs/libgccpp.*
| gcc -shared  gc_cpp.lo   -Wl,-soname -Wl,libgccpp.so.0 -o .libs/libgccpp.so.0.0.0

Obviously something went wrong. A shell trace shows that a
correct-looking $compile_command is built, but never used, and instead
a $CC-based $cmds is used.

As a result, package tulip, for which I had to regenerate libtool
files because of arm and other archs, got its lib not improperly
linked. I guess other packages suffer the same problem - and I don't
really see how we can track the problem.
