Package: libtool
Version: 1.4.2-7
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

libtool's "convenience" libs really aren't. If you build a convenience lib,
only a .al is generated with ar which contains the .lo's, all of which
contain PIC code, which is needed to link into a .so Nothing is
generated without PIC code to link into a .a, however, and this causes
any package with a convenience lib to end up violtaing debian policy, by
having PIC code in a static archive.
