I am in too much stress now. I will look into that later (probably some time in Octobre) and report what happens. By the way: the fact that nobody else has reported a similar problem may be due to the fact that probably few people have to use rdiff-backup via NFS (with a VERY old server at the other end) because there is no SSH access (and if there were, it's only SSH1 anyway).
