python-memcached packaging
Hi,
I'm looking at packaging the python-memcached pure-Python memcached
client library:
http://www.tummy.com/Community/software/python-memcached/
I've opened an ITP:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=458608
And I've put together some packaging materials:
http://svn.crschmidt.net/personal/debian/python-memcached/debian/
I've uploaded the resulting package to mentors:
http://mentors.debian.net/cgi-bin/sponsor-pkglist?action=details;package=python-memcache
I've got one question that seems particularly relevant: the 'name' of
the package is python-memcached, but the module provided is 'memcache'.
The egg-info installs under:
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2008-01-01 23:27
./usr/share/python-support/python-package/python_memcached-1.40-py2.4.egg-info/-rw-r--r--
root/root 1126 2008-01-01 23:27
./usr/share/python-support/python-package/python_memcached-1.40-py2.4.egg-info/PKG-INFO-rw-r--r--
root/root 9 2008-01-01 23:27
./usr/share/python-support/python-package/python_memcached-1.40-py2.4.egg-info/top_level.txt-rw-r--r--
root/root 1 2008-01-01 23:27
./usr/share/python-support/python-package/python_memcached-1.40-py2.4.egg-info/dependency_links.txt-rw-r--r--
root/root 198 2008-01-01 23:27
./usr/share/python-support/python-package/python_memcached-1.40-py2.4.egg-info/SOURCES.txt
(I think this might be wrong anyway, but I'm not really sure.)
Given this, what's the best way to proceed with naming the package?
Should it be python-memcache or python-memcached?
Once that's resolved, I'd love any feedback anyone is willing to offer
on the packaging. It appears to pass all lintian checks, and I've tested
installing and running it -- it's a pretty simple package (only one
file is actually used) so I don't know how much there is to comment on
:)
Feedback welcome,
