PyQt package out of date?

Is the python-pyqt package out of date in testing and unstable? I read
its dependencies on my up-to-date woody box as:

Depends: libc6 (>= 2.2.3-7), libqt2 (>= 2:2.3.1-8), libsip,
libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 (>= 1:2.95.4-0.010810), xlibs (>> 4.1.0), zlib1g
(>= 1:1.1.3), python, libsip

...and those all appear to be "version number greater than something" or
unversioned dependencies. However, attempting to install it seems to
want to remove loads of python packages, including "python" (and loads
of KDE packages, too, incidentally), and reinstall "python-base". Has it
not been updated to the new Python policy? I'm somewhat rusty on finer
details of the packaging system...
