That's how woody works now, and the binaries are called python and python2.
Note that they are not managed by the alternatives mechanism -- Joey Hess
explained the bad experience perl had with that.
I think it's thought of as a temporary issue, and the long-term solution
would be to move to Python 2.1. Not sure what all the packages who
install in /usr/lib/python1.5 are going to do about it. I'm
prepared to adopt htmlgen and python-imaging to convert them if it's needed.
