Too bad such a great OS has moved so far left that it is now seeking to

I don't see why the personal life choices or the political opinions of
Debian developers should have any bearing on whether you should use
Debian software.
If you believe it's a great OS why not just keep using it. It's not
like you're required to allow Debian developers into your bed.
By the way, Mint is based on Debian (either directly or indirectly
through Ubuntu), so if you don't want to use Debian, you may not want
Mint either.
