"release notes" is somehow repetitive. Proposed new text:

...
any forced downtime, but it is strongly recommended to read the <a
href="$(HOME)/releases/lenny/releasenotes">release notes</a> for
possible issues.  Also there, you will find detailed instructions about
installing and upgrading.  ....
