Linden Lab (Second Life) chose Debian GNU / Linux because of its scalability and manageability
Linden Lab [0], the creators of the Second Life MMORPG [1] (wich grows subscription base 20% monthly), chose [2] Debian GNU / Linux because of its massive horizontal scalability (in March 2007 there were 2000 servers, expected to grow up to 10000 servers) and easy manageability, allowing a small IT staff.
They already opened the source of the game client [3], already ported to Linux.
