Hi, I have read that you want to contribute to the Debian project through your engineering skills. I also find debian-installer an efficient tool. However some atom devices are released by the manufacturer with a 32-bit OS compatible bios and a 64-bit Atom processor. And already a couple of years ago the multi-arch or 32-bit installer did not work plug&play (although apparently it completed with success the installation, during the first boot even the text mode did not work), making actually e-waste the aforementioned devices. Now I no longer use a similar device, but being cheap for any student or person with financial difficulties, and although it is not interesting for developers, I ask you to improve its compatibility. I hope you can further improve the debian project. 😄

Dear Debian Project Team,I hope you are well. I have been using Debian GNU /Linux since early2000s, and found this project very helpful and inspiring for my own workin a non-IT area. Currently, Debian GNU/Linux 11 is the only operatingsystem on my computers. It has also been adopted by some of my students.I have used the advanced expert installation mode, and my system isrelatively highly customized. I found the Debian Installer shipped withversion 11.3 very helpful to quickly ad conveniently set up the system.I have noticed that various companies have been promoted on the Debianwebsite in exchange for their donations. It is great that the DebianProject can secure important financial support and promote free softwareamong companies. However, I have also felt that some promotion usingvery large logos of companies that do not share many of the freesoftware values may go a bit too far, beside directly offering links tolog into their web services. To avoid any misunderstanding, I want tosay that it is great to engage corporations to support and participatein free software projects as long as the free software and ethicalvalues and their adoption are amplified rather than distorted. I hopethat the Debian project will lose its unique character with freedom andethics at its core. I personally have used some academic services bycompanies such as Google Scholar. I wish non-corporate platforms foraggregating academic outputs and its metrics could be adopted in thefuture. I feel ORCID is a step into that direction, but I do not quitefollow ORCID's ownership and corporate policies, and they do notaggregate citation metrics (yet).Personally, I am considering applying to join your project to help withDebian activities related to development and scientific computing usingModern Fortran based on my background in engineering sciences.Best wishes,Wojciech LipińskiCanberra, Australia
