No, I think I understood your point. I just wasn't persuaded by it. If someone is expelled by Debian then tries to "sneak back in" by contributing for a year or two it takes to become a DD without any any repetition of of whatever behaviour got them kicked out in the first place, my guess is the project would be better off by letting them get away with it. Putting another way - people can learn, and change. If we bet on it and are wrong, then we yes will have to kick them out again in a few years. But if the bet wins we get a contributor for decade or two. The trade off seems worth it to me.
