If you are interested in reading sources for learning how to package
software for Debian, you probably want to start with the packages hello,
hello-dbs, and/or hello-debhelper. Better yet, you'd want to read up on how
to package software <http://www.debian.org/devel/>.

If you are interested in seeing the source for other educational purposes,
it depends on the type of software and/or programming languages you are
interested in -- an in this case, you may be better off not started with
the source from Debian, but the sources from the upstream projects
themselves.

As for what sources are easiest to read, much of that is subjective based on
experience, asthetics, and general the opinions of individuals. You
mentioned games, so I might suggest that starting with a small game written
in python may be quite educational. The PyGame website
<http://www.pygame.org/> may be interesting to you.

I hope this info helps, but you may be better responses to questions like
the ones you posed if you are a bit more specific about what exactly you
are trying to learn or accomplish.
