Hi Jason, I would expect the more affluent areas of the world to have easier access to getting things and thus would think that if we were to send out free cd's, it would be to less affluent areas like Africa. America, France, Germany, etc. have a solid Debian community. Maybe Debian could earmark a certain amount or percentage of its assets to send media to far off places? It seems like an ideal arrangment for us to utilize the business resources of Canonical for CD/DVD distrabution. Canonical already has a distribution system in place to send out a Debian-derivitive. We should be able to ask them to use their services at a reasonably similar cost both as a favor to us and as a way to spread FLOSS. We would be increasing business to whomever they use and thus should lead to a lower cost for them as well? just throwing an idea out into the ether. Hopefully the wind is not going the wrong directions x-) Kev -- | .''`. == Debian GNU/Linux == | my web site: | | : :' : The Universal | debian.home.pipeline.com | | `. `' Operating System | go to counter.li.org and | | `- http://www.debian.org/ | be counted! #238656 | | my keysever: pgp.mit.edu | my NPO: cfsg.org |
