Great effort.

There are already some effort to make it easier to track changes
between distributions.  I hope these tools will make it easier for you
in the future to track the changes done by Ubuntu and others.  Some of
these efforts are being done within the debian-custom community.  You
probably want to participate in that mailing list as well as the
Utnubu lists. :)
