boot-floppies status

Boot-Floppies 3.0.18 is now available in Woody for the following
architectures:

        hppa, i386, ia64, m68k, powerpc

I'm sure the rest of the architectures will be available shortly.

For i386, arm, and powerpc, boot-floppies is now i18n, that is,
available in a number of languages:

English, Portuguese, German, Polish, French, Spanish,
  Japanese, Swedish, Italian, Hungarian

That list will probably be tuned per architecture (or per flavor on
i386), space allowing.

Note that the i386 i18n availability is not available for the
"vanilla" and "reiserfs" flavors due to either FB console or disk
space availability, respectively. Note also that not all aspects of
the installation process have been i18n'd, especially modconf.

3.0.18 included a rather large number of changes. No new major
features will be added to boot-floppies, although we still are
accepting changes if required for hardware support. To wit, we are
still looking to add a new PowerPC 'subarchitecture' with kernel 2.4
support, since a number of the newer PowerMac models only work with
2.4. Actually, boot-floppies is already ready to build with the 2.4
kernel once an appropriate kernel is in the archive.

In order to get boot-floppies into truly being a "release candidate",
we're still working on the serious bugs, as well as bugs in supporting
packages (the kernels, debootstrap, base-config, etc.). Additionally,
some packages need to get into woody which are not there yet (busybox,
python2.1-xml, libnewt0, whiptail) so that the package can be built
from woody.

If you have comments, suggestions, etc, please email
debian-boot@lists.debian.org. I have some tunnel vision right now and
am not really reading other lists at this time.
