I was wondering if we could return to this now.
I have only had sporadic contacts with upstream in recent months. Not
only was he involved in COVID research, he has now become a father, so
his spare time is extremely limited. He hasn't even found the time to
merge the Ghostscript patch in the current branch and push out a minor
release.
However, the world moves on and CUPS support for drivers with PPD will
eventually go. This seems like a good time for CUPS-PDF maintainers at
the distros to take over maintenance.
