Bug#1009665: ghostscript: with -dNEWPDF=false, the ToUnicode CMap sometimes has an incorrect mapping

pdftotext is based on poppler. It doesn't use Ghostscript at all,
AFAIK.

In any case, pdftotext still produces the incorrect "Šê" with the
buggy PDF file generated by ps2pdf (attached).

Note: -dNEWPDF=false no longer has any effect with Ghostscript 10,
but according to upstream, there may still be issues with the new
PDF interpreter (indeed, I did find issues, which have been fixed
now, but there might still remain other ones).
