I had kept the output I got after this printer was installed:

That was on 2020-10-09, and there was no "sides=one-sided" at that
time, and this was with cups 2.3.3-3.
So, it is possible that the issue appeared after the switch to the
OpenPrinting CUPS fork in November 2020.
