You seems to be right. I try to scan with simple scan, in text mode:

 - with resolution 75ppp: scan ok
 - with resolution 150ppp: scan ok
 - with resolution 200ppp: scan ok
 - with resolution 300ppp: simple scan crash, stack smashing detected
