Bug#952780: hplip: Strange dpkg-statoverride usage

Package: hplip
Version: 3.20.2+dfsg0-1
Severity: normal

Hi!

This package is making incorrect use of dpkg-statoverride for a
volatile pathname under /run that is not managed by dpkg. In addition
the recent migration from /var/run to /run does not include cleanup of
/var/run.

statoverrides are intended to be used on pathnames shipped by a
package that dpkg will unpack, otherwise this will have no effect if
the path did not exist at --update time. While there are plans to
add support for volatile/ghost files to dpkg, this is not the case
right now, so you need to manage this in some other way for /run,
and cleanup the statoverride for /run and /var/run to avoid leaving
cruft behind.

Thanks,
Guillem
