There is now a possibility that I am able to reproduce the behaviour
Brad experiences.
Brad, we did not use all the tools we have at our disposal. Read
https://wiki.debian.org/CUPSDebugging#The_CUPS_Error_Log
and get an idea of where we are going. Now
* Do 'cupsctl --debug-logging' (as root).
* Then '>/var/log/cups/error_log' (as root).
* Print with 'lp -d Officejet_6700 /etc/nsswitch.conf'.
* Compress /var/log/cups/error_log with gzip and send it here as an
attachment.
You can also search for "failed" in the error_log.
Cheers,
Brian.
