Package: cups
Version: 1.5.3-2
Severity: grave

Dear Debian folks,

printing takes longer than expected. Instead of several seconds to
process the job it takes several minutes until the printer starts to
print.

This seems to be related to Ghostscript.

This does not finish and takes two to three minutes. CPU usage shown by `htop` is 100 %.

$ ps aux | grep gs
        lp 14275 15.0 16.5 571444 557404 ? t 18:13 0:39 gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sDEVICE=ps2write -sOUTPUTFILE=%stdout -dLanguageLevel=3 -r1200 -dCompressFonts=false -dNoT3CCITT -c save pop -f /var/spool/cups/tmp/037c0500da6c6

I am marking this bug as serious because printing several documents is
not possible anymore and renders this system unusable for this task.

This problem was also mentioned by myself in report #662780 [1] but
seems to be unrelated, since the reporter of #662780 says it is fixed
for him.

Thanks,

Paul
