This bug is still present and very much an issue in hplip 
3.17.10+repack.

I have changed the ink cartridges since I reported the bug 3 years ago 
and yet the issue is still present. I'm using original / genuine / 
whatever-you-want-to-call-them HP cartridges too.
I don't know how to rule out a cartridge fault otherwise.
