Package: printer-driver-gutenprint
Version: 5.2.10-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
After an update the printer does not work any more. The update
also changed the init system to systemd although I do not know
whether this is relevant.

   * Information about the problem
The cups interface states "The PPD version (5.2.10) is not compatible
with Gutenprint 5.2.9" and in the error log it says "Gutenprint: 5.2.9
Starting". However, the following suggests that actually Gutenprint
5.2.10 is installed:

$ strings /usr/lib/cups/driver/gutenprint.5.2  | grep 5.2
gutenprint.5.2
*FileVersion:	"5.2.10"
5.2.10
/usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/5.2/
"%s://%s/expert" %s "%s" "%s - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.10" "%s

   * What did I already try to solve the problem?
There are already dozens of these bugs out there. Therefore, I already
tried delete the printer and add it again. I also tried the command
"cups-genppdupdate" and tried to reinstall the printer-driver-gutenprint
package.

I hope you can help me.

Whatever the cause of this issue it is very likely it has been fixed in
the intervening period. I do not observe it on unstable with 5.2.13-2+b1.
Therefore, I am closing this report.

One way to re-run updating the PPDs is

1. touch /usr/share/cups/ppd-updaters/*

2. apt --reinstall install cups

Regards,

Brian.
