system-config-printer Debian package, Debian Printing Team, and collaboration with Ubuntu
Laurent,
according to
https://packages.debian.org/source/sid/system-config-printer and the
debian/changelog of Debian's system-config-printer package you seem to
be the principal maintainer of system-config-printer at Debian. If not,
please reply and CC the actual maintainer. Thanks.
I am the maintainer of the Ubuntu package of system-config-printer and I
have also contributed many patches to the upstream development of
system-config-printer.
I am working together with the Debian Printing Team on maintaining
common (identical) packages for Debian and Ubuntu to reduce maintenance
work. So most printing-related packages as cups, cups-filters,
foomatic-db, foomatic-db-engine, hplip, gutenprint, and many other
printer driver packages are synced between Debian and Ubuntu most of the
time. Exception are freezes of either distro, as then one distro will go
on adding features while the other can only do bug fixes.
So what do you think about syncing system-config-printer?
Did you already have a look into the Ubuntu package? Anything which you
like or dislike in it?
Till
